Nice way to derail the thread already. No, there are no plans for that feature. There are solid arguments for and against it. Luckily, you’re on a website with a pretty large Destiny community willing to form a group with you if you’re willing to put in the effort. It’s not a derail, it’s a common feature in many MMOs and similar games, and this game should not be an exception. It’s still weird when getting a group for the best content is a harder time consuming process than doing the actual content. Having means to ask for help outside of the game is not an excuse for denying players the feature inside the game they control and monitor. Then you don’t have to use the feature.
How come there is no matchmaking system on Weekly Nightfall Strikes?

We played Destiny 2 on PC — here’s what we learned
Many were surprised to learn that Destiny will not allow for matchmaking for multiplayer missions but director of production Jonty Barnes explained the decision, saying it all comes down to player commitment and that Bungie has designed raids in such a way that you will need to play with a full team of six. We’re going to see people self-organise. We’re seeing people in the Tower already gathering saying, who’s going to commit for a raid? If you just casually matchmake… you can see people jump out of competitive multiplayer games in matchmaking.
In Strikes you can continue with two if somebody jumps out. You can still have that experience and not feel robbed.

It was a challenging interview, setting myself opposite both Scott and a Bungie PR representative, working to derive answers to the burning questions that many in the 30 million strong community of players have asked about. It began with an introduction: He was also the Executive Producer on House of Wolves. And I got the group together. Same creative game director as House of Wolves too. I think people have liked seeing their increased light level, seeing the new gear. Challenge of Elders, I think is great.
There were a lot of changes, a lot of additions. What was the biggest — Scott: Have you guys seen any sort of player increase post-update? My face says nothing. And the thing that we were hearing, in addition to the fact that people seemed to like those things, was the fact that they really were looking for new space to play in, a new storyline, new cinematics, learning more about the lore — PR: Yeah, weapons, armor, gear, exotics — all those things people were looking for.
And the best way to deliver that is in a package, right?
Destiny Won’t Be Getting Raid Matchmaking, Here’s Why
I agree with you, and you make some valid points, but not having Raid or Weekly Strike, hell, even Daily Story mission matchmaking is an inexcusable fault. Not having a playlist for something as simple as this is sheer laziness. And while I agree that there will be trolls in the playlists, this can be remedied.
FORCE people to be in game-chat for this. Disable the “Go to Orbit” feature during active parts in the mission. Have 2 Titan, 2 Warlock, and 2 Hunter slots available for each Raid.
Page 2 With the imminent reveal of Destiny 2: Forsaken, it feels like we might finally be on the cusp of a huge and crucially, positive watershed moment. Between a community summit at the studio, a well-received, empowering sandbox update, and the generally rather good Warmind expansion, Destiny 2 has lately felt like a game starting to regain its identity.
And now Bungie is ready to unveil Year Two, just ahead of previewing its large-scale, September, Forsaken expansion as one of the biggest E3 games. Forsaken, absolutely has to be. Here, we’re covering every aspect of the game, from the shooting to the story. But starting with the most important, core stuff The fundamental Destiny 2 experience 1. Bungie has now stated that it wants to rework the game to serve players who want to make it their hobby — ie. And that needs to happen.
I often compare playing Destiny to being a hobbyist car tuner, and there are good reasons so many Destiny players love Monster Hunter. The kind of deep, gratifying Destiny that keeps players around for years rather than weeks is as much a theoretical pursuit as a practical one.
Looking for a Great Destiny 2 Clan or Group?
Reddit Destiny 2 has had a rough time of late, what with players discovering that late-game grinding may very well be a gigantic waste of time , and the general hostility to microtransactions going around these days. Since its launch on PC in October, players have also groused about its strict communication rules: I love that about it. I never played the first Destiny, so jumping in this year on PC I was struck by how the game looks like a series of sci-fi paperback novel covers, as if some s editions of Isaac Asimov or Robert Heinlein had been brought to life.
For some, taking on Destiny‘s weekly heroic activities, whether in a group or solo, was one of the many highlights of the game’s multiplayer, but for those that found the weekly heroic strikes.
Random Article Blend If you were hoping to log-in to Destiny, fire up the game menu and open an option to instantly find a good raid team via a matchmaking tool The designer addressed the issue of finding decent matches for raids via in-game tools. Smith shoots down the idea that they need traditional tools that people are accustomed to, when discussing matchmaking I think that’s the challenge.
It’s not how do we change the raid-design philosophy to allow for matchmaking. The game itself feels like the skeleton of an MMO that was intended to evolve into a bustling single-player campaign, but neither idea came together in a way that made it satisfactory
Destiny – Age of Triumph Brings Matchmaking Improvements and Crucible Bounty Changes
The development team at Bungie has made a lot of big changes for Destiny during its second year of life, but it seems that there’s at least one core element of the social shooter that will never be tweaked, with no plans at the moment to deliver a matchmaking system for the raids that draw many of the players. Luke Smith, the creative director, working on the title, tells Games Radar that such a feature would be a problem because it would give gamers the impression that other gamers are disposable and only count as long as they can provide firepower during combat.
The future of the game is free and linked to microtransactions After the massive set of changes that were introduced in update 2. The focus for the near future will be on the introduction of new content and tweaks to the way microtransactions work.
Oct 11, · Many Destiny players spent the past three years asking Bungie for in-game matchmaking for raids and other high-end activities, and Bungie has so far refused to add that feature into the game.
Buy In the months following its September launch, Destiny 2 developer Bungie has been in a tight spot trying to keep its community happy. Despite a solid start that showed stronger storytelling, quest variety, and sense of progression compared to the original, the sequel eventually fell into the same pitfall that its predecessor did: During the developer’s recent livestream showcasing many of the points of interest in the upcoming Warmind expansion , they were frank about their attempts to address the problems regarding challenges, content diversity, and the steep grind the Destiny 2 community has been unhappy with–me included.
While I really enjoyed Destiny 2 in its early months–even clearing the game’s story and reaching Raid status with three characters–my enthusiasm for the game quickly dropped after Curse of Osiris. As the May 8 release date for Warmind draws closer, it’s worth considering whether Bungie’s recent seasonal updates and the upcoming expansion can fix the game’s issues relating to its grind and the resulting fatigue.
To start, let’s take a look at the current state of Destiny 2. Since the release of December’s Curse of Osiris DLC, which included forge weapons, new story missions, and a new Raid Lair an additional area to explore in the Leviathan Raid , Bungie has introduced seasonal updates, offering scheduled tweaks to improve the core game. During the ongoing Season 2, quality-of-life updates such as new Crucible and Nightfall rewards, weapon and class rebalancing, Masterwork weapons, tweaks to Exotic drop rates, and changes to the sandbox exploration were introduced.
Destiny 2 is all the better for these additions.
Once a week, Bungie selects one of Destiny 2’s Strikes and releases a timed Nightfall version of the group challenge. It’s a tougher fight all round, but the rewards are much sweeter, and so you’re very much encouraged to make these encounters part of your play each week. Not only does the Nightfall Strike in question rotate each week, there are also a handful of modifiers applied to up the challenge even further.
These might affect the damage you do, for example, or allow you to regain a little time for the clock as you clear through enemies. We thought it would be useful to bring together a quick guide to everything that’s currently known about Nightfall Strikes in one place. As each new Nightfall is released, we’ll add our tips guide to the new challenge in question, so you can quickly reference details of what’s involved.
Bungie is hard at work on the next big Destiny update. The update as they call it looks to reshape many aspects of Destiny, but they aren’t quite revealing all the details just yet. This week’s blog post did share a few small details though, and they should be interesting to any longtime.
